Community Event at Bristol Marsh

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

At 9:00 AM on Monday, January 19, please join the Bristol community in a Martin Luther King Day of Service in the Bristol Marsh. Volunteers are needed to help clean up and beautify the area. Individuals, families, scouts, students, organizations, and volunteer groups are all welcome.Bristol Marsh (Photo by Landers Design Group)

The Bristol Marsh is a unique and fragile habitat, located just southwest of Historic Bristol Borough Riverfront Park. The marsh is one of the few remaining freshwater tidal marshes in Pennsylvania, and it contains a handful of rare plants native to the Delaware River. The Nature Conservancy, through an agreement with Bristol Borough and a conservation easement from an adjacent landowner, has protected a large portion of the marsh for over twenty years. In addition to its importance as a wetland, the marsh serves Bristol as a community park and education area.

Please volunteer to preserve the marsh and give back to our community.

For more information or to volunteer, please contact the Nature Conservancy’s Molly Anderson at 717-232-6001 (ext. 117) or MollyAnderson@tnc.org.
