D&L Funding Buys Signage at Trexler Nature Preserve

A grant from Lehigh Valley Greenways, through the D&L, has made it possible for Lehigh County to install a signage system on more than 20 miles of trails at Trexler Nature Preserve.

The $40,000 grant provided Public Awareness signage that enhances the recreational use of the Preserve. The LVG grant, which was matched by Lehigh County, also funded an educational brochure and preserve map; a colorful pocket naturalist guide that details the Preserve’s flora and fauna; a fact sheet describing the Preserve’s new “Green” Environmental Center; and educational displays inside the Center. The new “Green” Environmental Center at Trexler Nature Preserve.

The Trexler Nature Preserve is a 1,108 – acre preserve within the Jordan Creek Watershed. Lehigh County protects and manages the natural resources in the Preserve that provide appropriate educational and passive recreational opportunities for children and adults.

Lehigh County has a partnership with the Emmaus-based Wildlands Conservancy, which supports the project by providing environmental, educational, interpretative, trail clearing and development services.
