Anthracite Heritage Alliance

The Anthracite Heritage Alliance (AHA) is a collaboration between the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, Schuylkill River National Heritage Area, and Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority to promote interpretation, historic preservation, and environmental stewardship in the anthracite coal region of northeastern Pennsylvania.  The AHA works with federal and state agencies, as well as local organizations, to accomplish unique projects.

In 2009, the AHA partnered with the Office of Surface Mining and Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) to participate in the Appalachian Coal Country Watershed Team (ACCWT).  As members of the ACCWT, VISTA volunteers provide a number of services to coal mining communities but focus especially on the pressing issues directly related to mining and abandoned mines.
