Sherry Acevedo is the Resource Conservation Specialist for the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, Inc. Locally, Sherry manages the Lehigh Valley Greenways (LVG) Conservation Landscape Initiative (CLI), coordinating with DCNR and the Lehigh Valley Greenways Steering Committee partnership. She administers the LVG block grant and mini-grant program and provides technical assistance to local partners to implement their greenway and conservation initiatives across the Lehigh Valley.
Sherry is the lead for the D&L Trail Alliance’s Lehigh Valley Regional Council focused on the development of a regional trail council in the Lehigh Valley and long-term stewardship and maintenance of the D&L Trail. She enjoys working with people, providing technical assistance, and conducting presentations. She believes conservation, stewardship, and education are integral to sustaining our natural environment for future generations to enjoy and explore.
In 2010, Sherry was a recipient of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council “40 Under 40 Award” for environmental leadership in planning, research, education, and outreach.
Previously, Sherry developed the D&L Trail Tenders volunteer stewardship program for the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor while working at Wildlands Conservancy. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation & Leisure Services Management from East Stroudsburg University, with a concentration on outdoor and military recreation. Her internship and practical experiences were conducted with the United States Army at Fort Carson, Colorado and Northampton County Parks Department. She is the mother of 2 young children. Her husband and family reside in Wind Gap, Northampton County.
