My work at the D&L combines my three passions—history, trails, and the environment. I oversee our organization's work related to the interpretation and stewardship of historic and environmental resources, including the 165-mile D&L Trail. I manage the D&L Trail Alliance, the D&L Trail Patrol, and the Visually Speaking signage program. I also provide GIS mapping, video editing, writing, and editing services to fellow staff.
I currently serve on the Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee, as well as the advisory boards of the September 11 National Memorial Trail and the Pennsylvania Highlands Trail, among other trail projects.
I received my BA in history from Temple University and my MA in history from Lehigh University. I am currently an environmental history doctoral candidate at Lehigh University, where I am writing my dissertation, “On the Trail: A History of American Hiking.” I have published portions of my research in academic journals, such as Pennsylvania History, and presented at national academic conferences, such as the American Society for Environmental History. I grew up in rural York County, moved to Philadelphia for college, and now live in Allentown with my wife, Amanda, and my dog, Ben. In my free time, I enjoy taking Ben on walking adventures, fishing, and talking about Pennsylvania microbrews.
