From Easton to Bristol, the Delaware Canal portion of the D&L Corridor carries you through land unlike that to the north. Bucks County is expansive.  Signs of development - farms dating back to the 1700s that embrace the river, and villages - are scattered across a landscape that retains an old world flavor.

Events that unfolded along the upper Delaware Canal escaped heavy industrialism. The continued use of canal and river preserved these resources.  The success of agriculture and appeal of the land to gentleman farmers helped preserve the region’s aesthetics.  A free river and the harnessed waters of the Delaware Canal helped shape pastoral land that offers glimpses of the American Revolution, fieldstone houses, and covered bridges.

This fertile river valley is beloved by artists, past and present, which explains the air of tranquility and creativity you’ll find here. This river valley is a surprising mix of 17th-century English manors, 18th-century Quaker settlements, 19th-century manufacturing, and 20th century development.  Add a healthy dose of theater, fine dining and the arts for good measure and you have a nationally recognized destination.

n Lower Bucks County, a pipeline of industrial and commercial activities changed the landscape dramatically.  Before suburbanization, truck farming and sand quarrying were principal occupations.  The contrast between the relatively recent industrial landscape and the remaining placid, historic landscapes is striking - a vibrant destination is the result.
