The Basics: This quiet section of trail connects Bethlehem’s Sand Island trailhead with the Freemansburg trailhead. Users can peer through the bushes for a unique view of the dormant Bethlehem Steel plant and South Bethlehem across the river.
The Details: The trail follows the earthen canal towpath and provides a relatively smooth surface for biking and walking. The trail becomes a bit rougher towards Freemansburg, but an upcoming trail resurfacing project will improve that stretch. Parking is available at both trailheads.
