Lehigh Gap - Slatington

Status: Complete open and improved

The Basics:  This recently-resurfaced section connects new trailheads at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center and in Slatington.  At the northern trailhead, the Appalachian Trail intersects the D&L Trail, providing additional hiking opportunities.  In Slatington, visit the local pizza joint, buy sodas and snacks, or take a side trip up the Slate Heritage Trail.

The Details:  The cinder trail surface is in excellent condition for walking and biking.  In Slatington, the new Slate Heritage Trail meets the D&L and extends along 3.3 miles of Trout Creek.  To continue south on the D&L Trail, cross the Main Street bridge to Walnutport.  Currently in the planning stages is a new section of trail to connect Slatington with Laurys Station to the south.
