Lehigh Tannery - Rockport

Status: Complete open and improved

The Basics: This section offers views of the Lehigh River, shady pull offs, and glimpses of historic ruins.  It is part of 26 miles of uninterrupted rail-trail through Lehigh Gorge State Park, which extends from White Haven to Glen Onoko. 

The Details:  The entire length of Lehigh Gorge is ideal for walking and off road biking. The surface is rolled cinder.  Please refer to the DCNR Lehigh Gorge State Park website for the latest details.

    The spectacular gorge that lends its name to this State Park slices through the Pocono Plateau for nearly 35 miles, creating a dramatic landscape of steep, hemlock- and rhododendron-covered slopes, rocky escarpments, and side streams that surge into waterfalls.
