Mountaintop - White Haven

Status: Unimproved open, travel at your own risk

The Basics:  Locally known as the Black Diamond Trail, this section is currently under design and in the early construction phase. Passing through the village of Mountaintop along a former Lehigh Valley Railroad right-of-way, the trail offers magnificent views of the natural wonders of Northeastern Pennsylvania.  Users will pass secluded ponds and bogs, wildlife, and towering trees.

The Details: The trail is currently obstructed by private property issues at Glen Summit, although negotiations are underway to connect the segments.  The surface of the trail varies from rolled dirt and ballast that provides easy riding to rough and loose ballast that will make riding very difficult (especially north of Moosehead Lake).  Fat tire bikes are recommended.
