The Basics: This section offers views of the Lehigh River, shady pull offs, and glimpses of historic ruins. It is part of 26 miles of uninterrupted rail-trail through Lehigh Gorge State Park, which extends from White Haven to Glen Onoko.
The Details: The entire length of Lehigh Gorge is ideal for walking and off road biking. The surface is rolled cinder. Currently, there is no direct access to Jim Thorpe from Glen Onoko. Private property obstructs the trail on the southern end of the Nesquehoning Trestle. This issue should be resolved within the year, and a new trail surface will be installed. Please refer to the DCNR Lehigh Gorge State Park website for the latest details.
