This nineteenth-century building has been meticulously restored and serves as the first interpretive center within the Delaware Canal State Park. It houses exhibits, artifacts and restoration details that illustrate “Life at the Lock” and canal history for thousands of visitors each year. The Friends of the Delaware Canal is an independent, non-profit organization working to restore, preserve, and improve the Delaware Canal and its surroundings. Their primary goals are to ensure that the Canal is fully watered and the towpath trail is continuous. The Friends embrace this mission in order to sustain a unique link to our heritage, care for and protect beautiful open space, and provide recreational opportunities for current and future generations. Their goal is accomplished through advocacy, community volunteerism, and educational and recreational programs. The Friends sponsor walking tours, educational programs, informational meetings, clean-ups, fundraisers and social events.
