The Byzantine’ Franciscans of Holy Dormition Friary have been serving Eastern Catholic Peoples for over 50 years. We are open to provide hospitality and welcome to all who are seeking to get in touch with their deeper self and God. Presently located in Sybertsville, Pennsylvania, the Byzantine Franciscans have missioned from Connecticut to Maryland, from New Jersey to Ohio, and points West. Originally founded as an Autonomous Custody of Saint Mary of the Angels, they had three houses, one in New Canaan, Connecticut, one in Sybertsville, Pennsylvania, and one in Silver Springs, Maryland. Over the years, due to declining vocations and death, our numbers were reduced to the point that we had to be joined with a larger province which would be willing to allow us the freedom to live according to our way of life in the Eastern Church and so foster and hopefully grow. We are now part of the Assumption Province of the B. V. M. with headquarters, for the present in Pulaski, Wisconsin.
Clare House at Holy Dormition Monastery provides privacy, warmth, hospitality and convenience with a fully equipped kitchen. Clare House can comfortably accommodate 1 to 3 persons for a day, weekend or a full week experience.
Everything is open to the public. Appointments can be made for spiritual counseling and direction.
