Lock Ridge Park was opened in August 1976. The park includes the old Lock Ridge Iron Works complex and surrounding land. Swabia Creek offers limited fishing. There is a picnic pavilion with fireplace and rest rooms. A path system is suitable for walking or bike riding. There is a little league baseball field. What looks like a medieval stone castle is actually a huge coal-burning iron furnace built in 1868. Here, iron was produced that helped transform America from a nation of farms into an industrial giant.
