This trailhead provides the only public access to the mid-section of Lehigh Gorge State Park. White Haven is approximately 9 miles to the north, and Jim Thorpe is 16 miles to the south. This makes Rockport the ideal location for trail users who do not want to travel the entire length of the gorge. For history buffs, be sure to scan the far side of the river to see the Rockport Tunnel, a narrow but long, hard-rock railroad tunnel from the mid-nineteenth century.
Parking and restrooms are available at the trailhead, but the lot can sometimes fill to capacity during peak weekends.
