Weissport flourished as a boat building and commercial center for the Lehigh Canal from 1829-1931. It offers the area’s best access to the D&L/Lehigh Canal towpath trail. Many of the town’s 19th century buildings survive tucked behind a flood control dike which adjoins the Lehigh River.
