D&L Blog entries related to the Trail Tenders
Trail Tenders are dedicated men, women and youths who maintain and enhance the D&L Trail in Northampton, Lehigh, Carbon and Luzerne counties. Organized into four chapters – Easton, Lehigh Valley, Northern Lehigh and Carbon/Lehigh Gorge – Trail Tenders have a variety of responsibilities. They help maintain the ecological balance along the trail by eradicating invasive plants and replacing them with native grasses, wildflowers, shrubs and trees. They maintain the physical integrity of historic structures such as canal locks and railroad turntables, by performing regular site cleanups. And they build picnic tables, benches and bicycle racks for the benefit of trail users.
